The arrest came about after the suspect, identified as Karen Martin, was observed by store employees leaving the premises with approximately $200 of merchandise without paying for it, according to police.
Martin was taken into custody on Sunday, around 1:52 p.m., according to police.
The defendant has been charged with petty larceny and criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, both misdemeanors, police said.
She was released on bail and is due back in Orangetown Justice Court on Wednesday, Oct. 12 to answer the charges, according to police.
